Koch Associate Program

Charles Koch Institute Welcomes Robert Raffety

December 13, 2017

The Charles Koch Institute is pleased to announce that Robert Raffety has joined its policy team as director of policy strategy, where he will play an instrumental role in coordinating strategy development and assisting in driving the optimization of the team’s efforts. This is a tremendous opportunity for our policy team to benefit from Raffety’s wealth of experience in leading teams and mentoring policy talent.

Before joining the Charles Koch Institute, Raffety spent seven years managing the resident scholars and policy research team at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where he served as the senior director of academic outreach. Most recently, he led their efforts to build capacity and connect scholars across a growing network of university-based research centers. Raffety also served as an adjunct professor of law and public policy at the Antonin Scalia Law School and the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Aside from his experience with Mercatus, he also worked in government service as counsel to the chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and legislative director for Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito.

Raffety earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and government at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He went on to receive his juris doctorate and Master of Public Administration degree from the Syracuse University College of Law and Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
